The talk of Washington is that Sen. Hillary Clinton is on President-elect Barack Obama's short list for secretary of state. In this latest XX Factor chat, Madeleine Brand talks with Emily Bazelon and Hanna Rosin about past female secretaries of state and how well Clinton would do in the role.

Correction Nov. 19, 2008

We incorrectly said, "If Clinton does indeed get and accept the appointment, that would make the third consecutive woman serving in that post." In fact, Colin Powell was secretary of state between Madeleine Albright and Condoleezza Rice.
