Jon McTaggart

Jon McTaggart serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) and American Public Media (APM). The APM Group is a public service media organization that serves audiences regionally and nationally through the following outlets: MPR's 37 FM radio stations and three regional program networks; Southern California Public Radio's (SCPR) three stations; Classical South Florida's (CSF) FM station in Miami; and through more than 22 national programs for APM with combined weekly audiences of more than 15 million listeners.

Jon has been deeply involved in MPR's and APM's growth since 1982. He joined MPR in 1982 as a station manager in Bemidji. Since then he has served as General Manager of MPR's five-station radio group based in Collegeville/Saint Cloud, as Vice President of Business Development for the APM Group, as Senior Vice President for New Media, and as Senior Vice President of Content and Media (including all programming and media groups – Broadcasting, Network Stations, National Programming, New Media and Live Events).

In early 2003, McTaggart was promoted to Chief Operating Officer and, as such, is the senior executive responsible for daily operations of MPR and the APM Group. In addition to leading strategic planning for the organization, McTaggart provides executive leadership for all operating Divisions including Content and Media (Programming), Technology, Development and Membership, Underwriting, Marketing and National Distribution, Corporate Communications and Business Development. McTaggart also leads the services provided by the APM Group to its subsidiaries including Southern California Public Radio (Los Angeles, CA), Classical South Florida (Miami, FL) and Greenspring Company.

In addition to his tenure at MPR and APM, McTaggart has led strategic planning, communications, fund raising and business development as a Director for a hospital group and was Executive Director of a hospital foundation in Reading, Pennsylvania. Prior to returning to Minnesota in 1995, he was Vice President for Advancement and University Relations of a liberal arts university in Riverside, California.

McTaggert holds a Masters degree in Public Administration and a Bachelors degree in Journalism Communications. He and his wife, Debbie, live in Maplewood, MN and have two daughters: Elizabeth, 24 and Sarah, 7.
