Scots-Irish singer Moya Brennan is highly regarded in her homeland. She's best known as a member of Clannad, a group that combined traditional Irish lyrics and melodies with New Age and pop music. She continues to blend styles, adeptly mixing English and Gaelic (her first language) in this live performance recorded in Charleston, W.Va., in December 2007.

A solo artist since 1992, Brennan brought along guitarist Fionan De Barra and his brother Cormac on harp. At the time of this concert, her latest CD was 2006's Signature. Earlier this year, however, she released Heart Strings, her first live recording as a solo artist.

"I Will Find You," a song from the movie Last of the Mohicans, is included on that release, backed by the strings of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. She performs a nice rendition of it here, with guitar and harp as the background for her mesmerizing vocals. She also makes a reference to the fact that many West Virginians have ancestral roots in Ireland, and that the nation's music and instruments have heavily influenced the music created in early Appalachia.
