Al & The Transamericans is a supergroup of sorts, featuring members who have day jobs in other bands, but get together for shows when their primary tour schedules permit.

Founder Al Schneir is a guitarist for the popular jam-rock outfit moe., while other members of the Transamericans hail from Strangefolk, Okemah or the Gordon Stone Trio. The lineup in this performance, recorded in Morgantown, W.Va., includes Kirk Juhas on keyboards, Erick Clocklar on bass, Gordon Stone on pedal steel and banjo and Vinnie Amico on drums.

The group released its second CD (This Day and Age) in 2008, boasting a roots-rock sound informed by The Band, Neil Young and The Flying Burrito Brothers. The set opens with "Guitar," a track from 2003's Analog, before showcasing two tracks from This Day and Age.
