Wrong Number, Really!
STEVE INSKEEP, host:
Good morning. I'm Steve Inskeep.
Some people might see this is an opportunity, but for Richard Perkins it was only trouble when his phone number hit the Internet. A celebrity Web site gave his number as a way to reach Brad Pitt. The 77-year-old man got so many calls for the movie star that he took the phone off the hook. And then his Life Alert system read his dead phone as a call for help. Firefighters soon burst into his house to save him, only to discover that he is more or less fine.
It's MORNING EDITION.
