Seth Rogen has made a career creating freaks, geeks and downright losers — and the characters in his new film Pineapple Express are no different. Rogen is both writer and star of the stoner movie-cum-action flick, which opens Aug. 6.

He got his start playing a lovable if unpopular cynic in Judd Apatow's television series Freaks and Geeks, which told the story of high-school undesirables in the 1980s. Though the show was short-lived, it became a cult classic and helped launch Rogen's career.

From there, he and Apatow went on to collaborate on projects such as the movies Knocked Up and The 40-Year-Old Virgin, and television show Undeclared.

Most recently, the pair worked together on Superbad, Rogen's semi-autobiographical film about a high-school friendship in transition.
