A Tale Told From Inside South Africa's ANC
Torn apart by an oppressive apartheid regime, South Africans hoped Nelson Mandela was the man who could heal the festering wounds of racial hatred.
For five years, Frank Wilderson was one of just two Americans elected to Mandela's party, the African National Congress. He witnessed the country's struggles firsthand and, as a result, was described as a "threat to national security."
That struggle is now the focus of a new book, called Incognegro: A Memoir of Exile and Apartheid. Wilderson shares his story with Farai Chideya.
