STEVE INSKEEP, host:

Good morning. I'm Steve Inskeep.

We do not know if the luggage of a prison inmate included a bag on wheels. We do know that when a 17-year-old woman was released, her luggage containsed some extra cargo.

Investigators in Germany believe she left the youth prison with a fellow inmate inside her luggage. That inmate escaped and has not been seen since. An official spokesman says - and this is quote - our staff are going to make sure they inspect big suitcases more carefully in the future.

It's MORNING EDITION.
