STEVE INSKEEP, host:

Good morning. I'm Steve Inskeep.

If nothing else, technology can inspire us all to improve our personal hygiene. An Australian lawmaker was sitting absentmindedly in the chamber. He picked his earwax and apparently ate it. We know this because this six-year-old footage recently surfaced on YouTube, of course. This was the footage that made Kevin Rudd a worldwide celebrity. He was mocked by Jay Leno which happens just as he's a leading candidate to become prime minister.

It's MORNING EDITION.
