OPHIRA EISENBERG, HOST:
In our next game, we'll play songs backwards, or as they say in "Twin Peaks," (sentence repeated backwards) we'll play songs backwards.
EISENBERG: First, let's check in with our contestants. Shadman is a part-time banker. Well, what do you think? Is it for you, or are you going to go full-time at some point?
SHADMAN ASIF: My boss listens to this radio show, so...
JONATHAN COULTON: Yeah.
ASIF: Yeah, I think it's time for a raise.
EISENBERG: Aeriel, as a photo editor, what is, like, one of the most well-known - I don't know - cover photo shoots that you may have been involved with?
AERIEL BROWN: I photographed Obama, and I'm actually wearing the dress that I photographed him.
EISENBERG: Oh, yeah, OK. And everything that I could imagine it was?
BROWN: It was fast. And I introduced myself to him as Mr. President, so...
BROWN: So it went well. It was good. It was great.
COULTON: You said - I'm sorry - you said that you were Mr. President?
BROWN: He asked me my name, and I said Mr. President. And he promptly moved on from there, singling me out as the insane one on the shoot. So it was good. It was good.
EISENBERG: I'm sure he was like, I get that all the time.
EISENBERG: We have an audio quiz called If I Could Turn Back Time. In this game, we'll play a song. You tell us the name of the song. And the twist is all of these songs are themed around the concept of time but we're playing them backwards. So buzz in as soon as you know the name of the song. Aeriel, you won the last game, so win this and you're off to the final round. Shadman, you need to win this or you'll be Benjamin Buttoned.
ASIF: No pressure.
EISENBERG: Here we go. Here's your first backwards song.
(SOUNDBITE OF COLDPLAY SONG, "CLOCKS")
ASIF: Coldplay, "Speed Of Sound."
EISENBERG: That is not the name of the song. Aeriel, can you steal?
BROWN: "The Scientist"? I don't know (laughter).
EISENBERG: OK. Good songs, I'm sure.
ART CHUNG: We were looking for a different Coldplay song - "Clocks."
CHUNG: Time, clocks.
ASIF: Oh, like the rules you mentioned.
COULTON: Yeah, like the rules, right.
EISENBERG: Let's hear the next one.
(SOUNDBITE OF CYNDI LAUPER SONG, "TIME AFTER TIME")
COULTON: Yeah. That's the end of that clip.
CHUNG: I'll give you a hint. The song was sung by Cyndi Lauper.
(SOUNDBITE OF BELL)
BROWN: "Time After Time"?
EISENBERG: "Time After Time."
COULTON: Some pretty good reasoning right there.
EISENBERG: All right. Let's hear this next one.
(SOUNDBITE OF THE BYRDS SONG, "TURN! TURN! TURN!")
ASIF: "This Is My Time."
EISENBERG: Good guess, not the name of this song.
ASIF: "It's My Time."
EISENBERG: "It's Your Time" is also not correct.
ASIF: Can I have more guesses?
EISENBERG: That would be the end of your guesses.
EISENBERG: Aeriel, can you steal?
BROWN: "For Every Season Turn, Turn, Turn, Turn"?
CHUNG: We'll take it.
CHUNG: We'll take most of that. The answer was "Turn! Turn! Turn!".
BROWN: "Turn! Turn! Turn" - yes.
EISENBERG: "Turn! Turn! Turn!" by The Byrds. Let's hear the next one.
(SOUNDBITE OF BRITNEY SPEARS SONG, "...BABY ONE MORE TIME")
BROWN: Oh, oh. I know - I figured it - "Hit Me Baby One More Time."
EISENBERG: (Laughter) Aeriel, you were so surprised and excited to know the answer.
BROWN: I know. I know.
EISENBERG: Yes, that is correct - "...Baby One More Time," Britney Spears. This is your last clue.
(SOUNDBITE OF SEMISONIC SONG, "CLOSING TIME")
EISENBERG: As soon as you know which, just buzz right in.
EISENBERG: Anyone want to buzz in, take a guess?
BROWN: This one's all you.
CHUNG: The word time is in the title, and it was sung by Semisonic.
ASIF: That really doesn't help.
CHUNG: It should (laughter).
(SOUNDBITE OF BELL)
BROWN: Oh, I know it - "Closing Time."
EISENBERG: Aeriel, that is correct.
EISENBERG: All right. Puzzle guru Art Chung, how did our conrestants do?
CHUNG: A little bit of a tougher game. Congratulations, Aeriel, you're moving on to the final round.
EISENBERG: Coming up, we'll find out who will face off against Aeriel in our final round at the end of the show. And we'll meet Chris Colfer. He starred on "Glee." He's a best-selling young adult fiction writer, but we're going to ask him also about his most impressive hobby - being a ninja. I'm Ophira Eisenberg, and this is ASK ME ANOTHER from NPR.
(SOUNDBITE OF CHICANO BATMAN SONG, "FRIENDSHIP (IS A SMALL BOAT IN A STORM)")
