Ingrid Lucia Noah talks with Ingrid Lucia, who fronts the band the Flying Neutrinos. They have a new CD, called "The Hotel Child" Their sound is distinctive swing, jazz, with a Dixieland beat. Lucia grew up in New Orleans, where she learned how to sing and play music from her parents who were both musicians, and from other street musicians there. Most of her early experiences with music were on the streets of New Orleans, and in the subways of New York. She is inspired by the sounds of Patsy Cline, Kay Starr, and big band sounds like Jimmy Dorsey. "The Hotel Child" is a mix of covers and original tunes that tell the stories of travelling musicians, living in different hotel rooms every night, usually crummy rooms, but the love of the music compensates for it.
