he Senate this afternoon decided NOT to impose a deadline on U-S involvement in peacekeeping in Kosovo. The vote was 53 to 47. Vice President Al Gore was on hand in case needed to break a tie. The administration had threatened to veto the deadline, which was proposed as a limitation on the president's ability to commit troops on his own. NPR's Mary Ann Akers reports.
