Military strategists have dreamed for years of a high-tech system that would shield the United States against incoming missiles. But among the challenges faced by such a system is the problem of distinguishing warheads from decoys, which might be deployed in great numbers. Recent tests by the Pentagon have claimed to account for the decoy factor, but some scientists have grave doubts about those tests. NPR Pentagon Correspondent Steve Inskeep reports.
