Texas Gov. George W. Bush, the Republican candidate for president, has a reputation for relying on a few, trusted aides. His campaign has been run from Austin, and it has featured the same cast of important players from the start, each of them known for political skill and intense loyalty to the Bush family. NPR's Steve Inskeep traveled to Austin to talk with to the keystone player in the operation, senior strategist Karl Rove.
