The Changing Face of America: Gay Teens
The Changing Face of America: Gay Teens
Audio will be available later today.
Writer Jaqueline Woodson contrasts her experience as a gay teenager with the experiences of many gay teens now. In the last 10 years, the number of high schools with clubs known as gay-straight alliances has grown dramatically. And many more people are identifying themselves as gay or lesbian during their high school years. As part of the Changing Face of America series, Woodson attends a gay pride rally in Washington, D.C. and talks with a number of young people about their identities, their schools and their families.
