NPR's Michele Kelemen reports from Moscow, where Russian president Vladimir Putin has replaced the management of the state-dominated gas monopoly Gazprom. Putin made clear that he wants the government to take a more active role in running the company, whose revenues account for a huge portion of Russia's federal budget. It's not clear whether the new man in charge, Alexei Miller, will make the company more transparent in its business dealings. His predecessor was accused of nepotism and shady deals.
