Powell Arrives in Israel NPR's Peter Kenyon reports that as U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell arrives in Israel, both Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat are under great international pressure to rein in the conflict. But both are also under tremendous pressure from their constituents to achieve some sort of victory. Because of this, some analysts think the only solution will be an international one -- perhaps an international peace conference like the one in Madrid in 1991.
