Immigrant Detainee Lawsuit
NPR's Greg Allen reports on a lawsuit accusing the federal government of violating the constitutional rights of immigrant detainees. The suit was filed on behalf of detainees being held in two jails, one in New York and one in New Jersey, and maintains the conditions there are abusive. The suit also charges that the detainees are being denied access to lawyers and the federal courts. Most of the detainees were arrested for visa violations after Sept. 11.
