Pope: Cardinals
NPR's Sylvia Poggioli talks with John Ydstie about the news from the Vatican, where American cardinals have been meeting with Pope John Paul II and Vatican leaders. The cardinals expressed regret for failing to prevent the sexual abuse scandals that have shaken the Roman Catholic Church, especially in the United States. They said there was growing consensus in the church about the need to remove priests who have committed sexual abuse and said they will propose to make it policy.
