U.S. Forces - Pakistan

The United States might be conducting small-scale military operations in the tribal areas of Pakistan next to Afghanistan. Al Qaeda forces are believed to have slipped out of Afghanistan and blended in with the Pakistani population in the region. There, al Qaeda fighters might regroup and plan future attacks. Pakistani officials have denied that the United States is conducting operations inside their country. Such operations would be highly controversial. NPR's Tom Gjelten reports.
