Middle East Democracy

Host Bob Edwards talks to Thomas Carothers, Director of the Democracy and Rule of Law Project at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. Carothers questions President Bush's assumption that overthrowing Saddam Hussein could lead to democracy in Iraq and other Middle Eastern countries. Carothers says a war against Iraq would be more likely to suppress democracy in the Mideast.
