Slate's Dear Prudence Retraction

Last Thursday, Day to Day ran a piece by Slate advice columnist Margot Howard — perhaps better known to our listeners as Dear Prudence — that answered the question of whether rice thrown at weddings was harmful to birds. Part of Howard's response was inadvertently taken from the work of Barbara Mikkelson on Snopes.com, a Web site that debunks urban myths. Day to Day apologizes to Ms. Mikkelson and to our listeners, and we have also removed the segment from our Web site archives.
