Admirers of the Allegretto from Beethoven's 7th
The Allegretto from Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 is one of the world's best-loved pieces of music, evoking inspiration and affection since its first performance in 1812. Two recordings available in stores pay tribute to the piece: Pianist Jacques Loussier's trio offers a jazz interpretation, and pianist Helene Grimaud performs a 1985 fantasia based on Beethoven's original. Hear Loussier and Grimaud, and NPR's Robert Siegel.
