Telemundo Bets on U.S.-Inflected Soap Operas
Telenovelas are melodramatic soap opera mini-series that have become the identifier of Spanish-language television. Telemundo, in an attempt to cater to its Latino audience living in the United States, has become the first U.S. Spanish network to fill 100 percent of its programming with shows it has produced.
