Fishermen Remain Missing Off Nantucket Coast
The Coast Guard suspends its search for five fishermen missing after the Northern Edge, a scallop boat, capsized and sank Monday afternoon. NPR's Melissa Block talks with Deb Shrader of Shore Support. Schrader says fishing restrictions on access to certain areas can drive fishermen out in poor sea conditions.
A fund has been established to help families of the men lost in Monday's accident. Contributions can be sent to Fishermen's Emergency Relief Fund c/o Shore Support, 106 Co-Op Wharf, P.O. Box 50899, New Bedford, MA 02745. Checks should be made payable to: CEDC/Shore Support (a local non profit collaboration). On the memo line, write Fishermen's Emergency Relief Fund to ensure a tax deduction.
