Superstar cellist Yo-Yo Ma leads a cast of 22 international virtuosos in a blend of world music drawn from the Silk Road Ensemble's acclaimed CDs When Strangers Meet and Beyond the Horizon, as well as new, unrecorded works.

Most of the Ensemble musicians first came together at a Silk Road Project workshop at the Tanglewood Music Center in Lenox, Mass., in July 2000 under Ma's artistic direction.
This performance takes place at the Civic Theatre in downtown San Diego as part of NPR's LaJolla SummerFest 2005 series.
