Commentator Susan Straight's oldest daughter recently turned 16. Given that she lives in Southern California, it's inevitable that she found herself in the market for a used car. Straight called upon her ex-husband to help with the purchase -- and found more than just a car for their daughter.

Straight lives in Riverside, Calif. Her new novel, out next month, is titled A Million Nightingales.
