A Serious Summer Reading This is what we're all about... take a few minutes tomorrow and listen to Morning Edition's traditional reading of the Declaration of Independence. The show has been doing this on July Fourth for years, using on-air NPR voices to read the different passages. No matter how many times I've heard it, the reading never fails to move me. The Declaration is so eloquent, so taut... a beautiful expression of a people who have had enough and decided to do something about it. By the way, did you know that Congress, representing the 13 (at that time) United States of America, did not accept Thomas Jefferson's draft in its entirety? You can compare his original and the final version.
