As the United States approaches the fifth anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, Alex Chadwick begins a series of discussions about why the U.S. mainland has been free from terrorist strikes since then.
In the first of three conversations, Chadwick speaks with John Yoo, the former U.S. Department of Justice attorney who crafted much of the legal theory underlying the Bush administration's polices regarding the detention of so-called "enemy combatants."
Yoo is now a law professor at the University of California, Berkeley.
