In 1989, Edie Brickell and New Bohemians found massive success on the strength of the hit "What I Am," from the band's debut album Shooting Rubberbands at the Stars. With Brickell's delicate voice at the forefront, the group quickly became known for its wry, charming, folk-inflected indie-rock.
The next year, however, Ghost of a Dog failed to generate a big hit, and the band split up. Most of its members branched off to other projects — Brickell, for one, launched a solo career and married Paul Simon — but several of them recently reunited after a 15-year hiatus. The new Stranger Things finds Edie Brickell and New Bohemians returning to their jam-band beginnings, while retaining the playful and distinct sound that made them successful in the first place.
