The pollen count in Atlanta has reached near-record highs in the past month, causing major irritation for allergy sufferers. Recent counts have been astronomical, at nearly 50 times what would be considered extremely high.

Michele Norris talks with Marie McFalls, who counts pollen for the Atlanta Allergy and Asthma Clinic.

Norris also speaks with two allergists, Dr. Stan Fineman, of the Atlanta Allergy and Asthma Clinic, and Dr. Alpen Patel, of the Emory Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta.

For people planning on resorting to bee pollen or honey to get rid of allergies, Dr. Fineman suggests not doing so: For some, he says, that natural remedy can cause much bigger problems. Instead, he recommends immunotherapy or shots.
