With a sound that recalls classic pop songwriters like Francoise Hardy, chanteuse and multi-instrumentalist Keren Ann combines literate, worldly pop with delicate vocals and subtly catchy melodies.

After moving from Israel to Paris at age 11, Keren Ann began to take her musical career seriously once she met musician and arranger Benjamin Biolay, who helped to write and arrange her debut album, 2000's La Biographie de Luka Philipsen. Winning praise for its innovative combination of French pop, folk and trip-hop, the disc earned her several Victoire nominations (the French equivalent of the Grammy). Her next album, 2002's La Disparition, incorporated blues and jazz elements into her sound without sounding forced; subsequent releases displayed her continued growth as a songwriter. That trend continues on her fine new fifth album, a self-titled disc that finds her sounding more assured and approachable than ever.
