Thirty years ago the King of Rock 'n' Roll died — or disappeared at any rate. At least he has not been seen outside the pages of the Weekly World News. If the stages of grief are shock, denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance, then Elvis fans have added another: imitation.
Jim Nayder, host of the The Annoying Music Show, shares some of the worst music performed by Elvis impersonators and by the King himself.
Elvis impersonators — or "re-creationists" as some prefer — are not limited by creed, race or even age. Young Rick, in particular, delivers a powerfully painful solo vocal performance of "You'll Never Walk Alone." Nayder jokes that the recording actually serves a vital purpose for many medical facilities: "to wake up long-time coma patients."
