Harmonicas Shipped to Troops in Iraq, Afghanistan
Herb Shriner, the 1950s homespun humorist, once started a harmonica orchestra. This holiday season, Shriner's sons have decided to donate 400 of their late father's harmonicas to the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. The treasure trove of vintage harmonicas — all of the "Marine Band" model — had been in a Florida warehouse. As son Wil Shriner told the Sun-Sentinel: Harmonicas are easy to pick up and play, and it sure beats sending tubas.
