Surfers are eagerly awaiting the biggest wave of the year, thanks to severe rainstorms in the Pacific Northwest. Veteran surfer Grant Washburn talks to Alex Chadwick from his post on the beach at Mavericks, a legendary surf spot about a mile north of Half Moon Bay.

Washburn says he hopes to surf the waves — already upwards of forty feet, with heights of 70 feet projected for later in the afternoon — as soon as the haze clears.
