The coveted Best in Show award at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show on Tuesday went to a breed that has never won that honor: the beagle.

RENEE MONTAGNE, host:

Good morning. I'm Renee Montagne.

It was victory for the underdog, and we do mean underdog at yesterday's Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. The coveted Best in Show went to a breed that has never won the honor, the beagle. Until now, the dog with floppy ears and big brown eyes was best known from the comic pages. Now, perhaps, Snoopy can share a celebratory bay with the Best in Show beagle - whose name, by the way, is Uno.

It's MORNING EDITION.
