Ode (Owed?) to Ma
In this week's on-air puzzle, you are given clues for six-letter words, each containing the consecutive letters M-A. Remove the M-A, and the remaining four letters, in order, will spell a word answering the second clue. For example, given "to stay" and "part of a bridle," the answer would be "remain" and "rein."
Challenge from Last Week: Rearrange the letters of "assembly hall" to spell three loud sounds.
The answer: Yell, slam, bash
The winner: Jill Reynolds of Sacramento, Calif.
Next Week's Challenge: From Leonette Morrison of Marin County, Calif. Think of a seven-letter word meaning "entrance." Switch the second and fourth letters and you'll get another seven-letter word meaning "exit." What are the words?
