Urban Farmer Wins MacArthur Genius Grant
Will Allen started his urban farming non-profit, Growing Power, 15 years ago in a rundown area in Milwaukee, Wisc.
Today, Growing Power has 40 acres outside the city and satellite operations in Chicago. He produces everything from beets to freshwater fish.
The MacArthur Foundation just awarded Allen one of its so-called genius grants for his innovative approach to urban food production and community development.
He shares his story with guest host Cheryl Corley.
