Joseph Simmons has accomplished something few others have: The pioneering hip hop star is also an ordained minister.

Best known as Rev. Run from the legendary, chart-topping group Run-DMC, Simmons and his wife, Justine, have won fans of a new generation with their MTV reality show, Run's House.

The couple has written a book together, titled Take Back the Family: A Challenge to America's Parents.

In it, they offer advice on parenting, joining blended families, and the importance of education.

Both joined NPR's Tony Cox to talk about more about it.
