The reigning Female Bluegrass Vocalist of the Year for the second year in a row, according to the International Bluegrass Music Association, Dale Ann Bradley has made a big impact on the bluegrass world over the course of her seven albums.
The daughter of a coal-mining Baptist minister in southeastern Kentucky, Bradley combines gospel influences with a distinctly Appalachian flair and beautiful harmonies. Her cover songs have crossover appeal, including her takes on U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" and Stealers Wheel's "Stuck in the Middle With You." An obvious crowdpleaser, her version of Kris Kristofferson's "Me and Bobby McGee" was included on her 2006 album Catch Tomorrow and is performed live in this Mountain Stage segment.
Since this recording, Dale Ann Bradley has released Don't Turn Your Back. Her band here includes Ramona Church on banjo, Mike Bub on bass, Tim Laughlin on mandolin and Jeremy Abshire on fiddle.
