The Bear is the eighth album by Stephen Kellogg & The Sixers, the New England pop-rock band. As he describes in the autobiographical tune "4th of July," Kellogg sold advertising to fund his first record, South of Stephen, in 2000. Since then, he's compiled a band and steadily built a following through relentless touring and constant interaction with fans. Featured here are longtime Sixers Boots Factor on drums, Kit Karlson on bass/tuba/accordion/keys, and the newest member, Sam Getz, on guitar.

"In Front of the World" and "4th of July" are both on the group's previous release, 2007's Glassjaw Boxer. The rest of the tunes performed here, in the band's second appearance on Mountain Stage, are from The Bear.

Mountain Stage pianist Bob Thompson also performs his own composition, "This Is My Love Song for You," accompanied by guitarist Ryan Kennedy.

This segment originally ran April 13, 2010.
