Jesse Winchester has been appearing on Mountain Stage since 1987. Now living in Virginia, Winchester is better known for his songs than for his name. Bonnie Raitt, Joan Baez, Emmylou Harris, Elvis Costello and many more have all sung his material. With its distinctly Memphis drawl and southern-gentleman delivery, Winchester's voice rivals his important songbook.
After a nine-year break from recording, Winchester released Love Filling Station. In this, his seventh appearance on the show, he shares a humorous story about falling in love after writing "Lonely for a While." He performs three tunes from Love Filling Station here, as well as "Showman's Life," a song that's been recorded by Dobie Gray, Gary Allen and Buddy Miller.
This segment originally aired April 14, 2010.
