"If You Gonna Go"
Originally a founding member of the Canadian trio The Be Good Tanyas, Frazey Ford has spent the past 10 years supporting the harmony-drenched folk-pop group. But from the blending shadows of vocal harmonies, her gentle yet fearless voice has edged its way straight to the forefront. In an ambitious decision to establish a solo career, Ford proves that she can push beyond her work with The Be Good Tanyas by stretching her sound to include hints of country, soul, jazz and blues. She redefines her audience's expectations with the release of her debut solo album, Obadiah.
Obadiah not only exhibits musical strengths, but narrative ones, as well. As Ford puts it, "A lot of this album is coming out of healing that I've done. The knowledge that in all grief there is joy, and in all joy there is grief." With the intent of passing along her interpretation of life and its meaning, she lines each of the 13 tracks with personal experiences and instrumental contributions from seasoned musicians, producers and friends.
