In a special New Year's Eve edition of World Cafe, Jim DeRogatis and Greg Kot of Chicago Public Radio's Sound Opinions radio program join World Cafe host David Dye to discuss the year in music.

The trio tackle the trends that dominated 2010 and count down DeRogatis and Kot's top five albums of the year.

Sound Opinions is an hour-long weekly radio show produced by WBEZ and is syndicated nationally to some 94 public radio stations in 80 markets ranging from New York to Alaska.

DeRogatis is a full-time lecturer in the English Department at Columbia College Chicago and writes the “PopNStuff” music and culture blog for blogs.vocalo.org.

Greg Kot has been the music critic at the Chicago Tribune since 1990 and has written several books, including Ripped: How the Wired Generation Revolutionized Music.

DeRogatis and Kot recently co-authored The Beatles vs. The Rolling Stones: Sound Opinions on the Great Rock 'n' Roll Rivalry.
