California singer, songwriter and guitarist Chuck Prophet set out for Mexico to record Let Freedom Ring. There, he experienced widespread brown-outs, an earthquake and a swine flu outbreak. But work on the album persevered, and it succeeds in capturing the guitar-driven pop-rock sound Prophet has been refining since he began fronting the L.A.-based rock group Green on Red.

Joined by Stephanie Finch on piano and backing vocals, Todd Roper on drums, James DePrato on guitar and Kevin T. White on bass, the band plays "You Been Gone" and runs through highlights from Let Freedom Ring during Prophet's fourth appearance on Mountain Stage.

This segment originally ran May 6, 2010.
