A passenger on a Southwest Airlines plane tried to use a new electronic cigarette on a flight from Los Angeles to Utah. Told to stop, he allegedly got so mad he pelted the flight attendant with peanuts and pretzels.

STEVE INSKEEP, host:

Good morning. I'm Steve Inskeep.

After a plane takes off, the flight crew says you may use electronic devices. Maybe now they'll have to clarify that they mean things like music players, not the new electronic cigarettes. A passenger used one on a plane from L.A. to Utah. When told to stop, he allegedly got so mad he pelted the flight attendant with peanuts and pretzels. He was arrested after landing, but at least the crew did not tell him during the flight that the smoking area was right outside the door.

It's MORNING EDITION.
