Massachusetts-based rock band Stephen Kellogg and The Sixers return to Mountain Stage, recorded live in Charleston, W.Va. Kellogg's set draws from his latest release Gift Horse, including the upbeat anthem "Gravity" and "My Favorite Place," a love song to his fans and bandmates.

Quickly becoming a Mountain Stage regular, Kellogg is quick to win the audience over by telling a story about a contractor who reduced his bill after finding out he was set to appear on the show. Kellogg grew up in the 1980's, attending pop metal shows with his older sister, and hearing his parents' record collection, which included '70s staples like Cat Stevens and Crosby, Stills & Nash.

Years later, with fellow UMass Amherst classmates The Sixers, Kellogg has amassed a loyal following based on his enthusiastic showmanship and smart, thoughtful songwriting. It's a combination, Kellogg told host Larry Groce, that makes sense, given the assortment of music he experienced in his youth.
