Black Prairie makes its second appearance on Mountain Stage, recorded live in Charleston, W.Va. An unlikely string band of great technical depth, Black Prairie has a rhythm section that features three members of The Decemberists.

While conceived as a way for Chris Funk, Nate Query and Jenny Conlee to explore traditional instrumental music during that band's hiatus, Black Prairie began to expand with the addition of former Bearfoot singer Annalisa Tornfelt and fellow Portland guitarist Jon Neufeld. Black Prairie's latest album, Fortune, finds the band hanging on to its Americana roots while exploring harder edges.
