The visual: A clown past her prime. The words: "Put me on a pedestal and I'll only disappoint you."

Welcome to 2015 and the year many will fall in love with the best lyricist in rock music today, Courtney Barnett. Now that I've put her on the pedestal I'll say what she wouldn't: She won't disappoint. In fact, Barnett's new album is something I've been waiting the last two years for. Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit is her first real album, following a a pair of EPs that were collected on 2013's The Double EP: A Sea Of Split Peas.

The new album will thrill any fan of smart, biting guitar driven rock, and as a first single, "Pedestrian At Best" will give you a good taste of why I love this Melbourne singer and her band so much. It may be your introduction to Courtney Barnett or, if you're already a fan like me, a treat that hints at what's to come on March 24th.
