Natalie Prass, 'Why Don't You Believe In Me?'

Everyone's been there before — that dark part of the brain where fear and doubt and a thousand unanswered questions reside, doing their dirty work to sabotage every attempt at happiness. In her latest video, for the song "Why Don't You Believe In Me?," singer Natalie Prass finds herself trapped deep inside her own head, battling a broken heart and the uncertainty it's left in its wake.

The video unfolds in a stark white room. As Prass gazes into a mirror, she takes a small brush and applies what first appears to be makeup, putting on a new face for a new day. But each brush stroke reveals another layer of her own face, one beneath the other. It's a disorienting and slightly unsettling effect. "The song is about self doubt," Prass tells us via email. "So we thought it was appropriate that the video relate to the idea of self examination and layers that both distort and reveal."

The video was created and co-directed by artist Erica Prince and Tiona McClodden. "Why Don't You Believe In Me?" is from Prass' just-released, self-titled debut album, produced by Spacebomb's Matthew E. White.
